FIVE STORIES PRESIDENT TRUMP DOESN’T WANT YOU TO MISS
In Michigan Visit, Trump Calls for Americans to Get Back to Work, Expects ‘Epic’ Comeback
-Detroit Free Press
“Making his first visit to Michigan since the coronavirus pandemic began in the U.S., President Donald Trump on Thursday praised the ingenuity and pluck of Ford Motor Co. and its employees for turning its Ypsilanti components plant into a ventilator factory,” Todd Spangler reports. Ford and GE are jointly producing 50,000 ventilators.
Susan Rice’s Mysterious Email
-The Wall Street Journal
“The larger truth here is now undeniable: The Obama Administration spied on the political competition, it continued that spying even after Mr. Trump was elected, and then it tried to cover up what it had done,” The Wall Street Journal editorial board writes.
Trump is Right to Hold WHO Accountable
“President Trump’s effort to hold the World Health Organization accountable for its bungled handling of the coronavirus is well justified. It is outrageous to expect taxpayers to continue supporting an international body that acts as a lap dog for Beijing,” the Washington Examiner editorial board writes.
It’s Okay to Acknowledge Good COVID-19 News
“The coronavirus has taken a heartbreaking toll on Americans, but the course of the virus is not the same as it was a few months ago. We are on the other side of the curve. There are encouraging signs all over the country, and no early indications of a reopening debacle,” Rich Lowry writes. “The question now is whether the media and political system can absorb good news on the virus, which is often ignored or buried under misleading storylines.”
Public-Private Partnerships Will Lead Recovery
-The Detroit News
“It took nearly a decade for Michigan’s small businesses to fully recover from the Great Recession of 2008-09. I’m optimistic these vital businesses will bounce back much quicker this time, thanks in large part to the indisputable success of the Paycheck Protection Program,” Small Business Administrator Jovita Carranza writes.
How The Obama Administration Weaponized Surveillance Laws To Target Trump “The drip-drip-drip of newly declassified documents related to the Trump-Russia investigation, together with recent reports that a classified leak against former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn might not have come from an unmasking request, leaves little doubt that the Obama administration weaponized federal surveillance laws to target Trump associates and undermine the incoming administration,” John Daniel Davidson writes in The Federalist. “The story thus far is complex, but it reveals a disturbing abuse of power by the Obama administration that suggests congressional reform of federal surveillance laws is needed to ensure this never happens again.” https://thefederalist.com/2020/05/21/how-the-obama-administration-weaponized-surveillance-laws-to-target-trump/ “Susan Rice’s memo about a high-level Jan. 5, 2017, meeting plainly aimed to protect the then-national security adviser’s boss, President Barack Obama—but it’s backfiring spectacularly. Rice sent the Jan. 20, 12:15 p.m., note (recently declassified) to herself at literally the last minute: President Trump was sworn in at noon that day; her administration was headed out the door,” the New York Post editorial board writes. Oh, and Rice’s lawyer says she drafted it “upon the advice of the White House Counsel’s Office,” Fox News reports. https://nypost.com/2020/05/20/susan-rices-now-infamous-memo-was-blatant-bid-to-cover-obamas-butt/ 5/21阿波羅新聞網＜劲爆！
「President Trump works across party lines to reopen America
Americans have done an incredible job listening to local health authorities, heeding social distancing guidelines, and helping to slow the spread of COVID-19. Our citizens stepped up and made incredible sacrifices. Now, it’s time to get them safely back to work. “We’re going to safely reopen our country and our economy, and it’s happening very rapidly,” President Trump said at yesterday’s Cabinet meeting.
A safe, strong reopening requires close partnership between federal and state leaders. That work continued today, as President Trump hosted Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R) and Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly (D) at the White House. Vice President Mike Pence, meanwhile, traveled to Florida to meet with Gov. Ron DeSantis (R). FEMA and others are helping ensure each state is stocked up with critical resources. “In our drive to crush the virus, the U.S. has completed nearly 12 million tests,” President Trump said yesterday. “What has been done with testing, what’s been done with ventilators, what’s been done with the distribution of product has been incredible.” Arkansas, Kansas, and Florida are no exceptions—each state has received the full support of President Trump’s Administration. In terms of testing and masks, for example:
Arkansas is receiving over $78 million in testing assistance funding, along with more than 660,000 N95 masks.
Kansas is receiving over $80 million in testing funds, along with 860,000 N-95 masks.
Florida—one of our most populated states—is receiving over $420 million in testing funds, along with over 5 million masks N95 masks delivered.
The President and First Lady honor acts of heroism
During this pandemic, Americans from all walks of life have risen to the occasion to lift up their communities. A few days ago, President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump recognized some of these heroes in a ceremony at the White House. “The First Lady and I are thrilled to welcome you this afternoon for our second event recognizing extraordinary Americans who have responded to the invisible enemy,” the President said. He praised their “exceptional bravery and commitment and love.” Each of these Americans has an incredible, inspiring story to share. For example:
“It is outrageous to expect taxpayers to continue supporting an international body which acts as a lapdog for Beijing. If the WHO wants to change course and return to its original remit of serious global health protection, it can do so. If not, as Trump indicated in his letter to the body, the WHO should lose all U.S. funding,” the Washington Examiner editorial board writes.
The World Health Organization’s response to Coronavirus has been filled with one misstep and cover-up after another. American taxpayers send over $400 million to the WHO each year—about 10 times what China gives—for the privilege of watching this UN agency parrot Chinese government claims and put political correctness over saving lives. President Trump halted this funding last month until the WHO’s mismanagement of the pandemic is investigated. In the meantime, the United States is redirecting global health aid to other groups directly engaged in the fight. This week, President Trump sent a letter to Dr. Tedros, Director-General of the WHO, outlining 14 serious concerns raised by America’s review of the agency. Here’s an excerpt: The World Health Organization has repeatedly made claims about the coronavirus that were either grossly inaccurate or misleading . . . You praised the Chinese government for its “transparency” with respect to the coronavirus, announcing that China had set a “new standard for outbreak control” and “bought the world time.” You did not mention that China had, by then, silenced or punished several doctors for speaking out about the virus and restricted Chinese institutions from publishing information about it.
The Massive Trump Coronavirus Supply Effort that the Media Loves to Hate
“There is a new cardinal rule in journalism—never write anything favorable about the Trump administration’s coronavirus response, even about its successes,” Rich Lowry writes for National Review. “It’s why the story of how the administration handled the potential ventilator crisis has gone almost entirely untold, and why its effort to secure supplies of personal protective equipment, or PPE, has been gotten largely skeptical or hostile coverage.” After all, “this was not your average bureaucratic response,” Lowry says. https://www.nationalreview.com/2020/05/the-massive-trump-coronavirus-supply-effort-that-the-media-loves-to-hate/
“Democrats and their puppets in the media—once fierce critics of US law enforcement and spying agencies—have suddenly become their biggest champions, at least when the issue is these agencies’ targeting of Team Trump.” There’s mounting evidence of what look like “serious, politically motivated abuses by the FBI and Justice Department. And liberals are cheering the abuse,” the New York Post editorial board writes.
“The media are mostly ignoring the news that 39 Obama officials sought to read the transcripts of Michael Flynn’s conversations with foreigners, but here and there they’ve asked a question. The unpersuasive answers suggest there’s more to learn,” The Wall Street Journal editorial board writes. The left’s assumption seems to be that “it’s OK to eavesdrop on your political opponents if you’re curious about their conversations with foreigners. We doubt that justification would have played well had the George W. Bush Administration spied on Barack Obama’s incoming team.” 5/17WSJ＜Team Obama’s Unmasking Dodge＞
“Let’s be clear: A crime was committed in the Michael Flynn case. But that crime was committed not by the retired general, but by someone who leaked the classified details of his conversations with then-Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak,” American Enterprise Institute Resident Fellow Marc Thiessen writes in The Washington Post.

Today’s Washington Post front page might confuse some readers: “As coronavirus testing expands, a new problem arises: Not enough people to test.”
That’s odd. After months of claiming that America lagged the world in testing capacity, the partisan media never corrected itself. It just changed the story and moved on.
Here are the facts the media left out. Under President Trump, the United States has built the strongest Coronavirus testing system in the world. In addition to performing more tests than any other country on Earth—by far—America has now conducted twice as many tests per capita as South Korea, long considered a gold standard for testing.
On every supply issue, from ventilators to testing to the availability of food, President Trump has mobilized a massive response across government and the private sector. As a result, many areas today see their testing capacity exceed demand—exactly what happened with ventilators after President Trump drastically expanded production.
Being overprepared is a good “problem” to have, and it didn’t happen by accident. Thanks to the hard work of President Trump, our public health experts, and private sector leaders, America is more ready than ever for a safe, phased reopening. 」

If House Democrats are focused on helping Americans get through this global pandemic safely, they sure have a funny way of showing it. Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s latest extravagant, $3 trillion spending proposal is Washington at its worst—and most predictable. While President Trump, governors of both parties, and frontline workers band together to fight this virus as one country, House Democrats see an opportunity to exploit this crisis to pass their partisan agenda. Millions of Americans are out of work. President Trump is trying to get them back on the job by safely reopening our country. Instead of helping him do it, here is what Democrats in Congress have decided is worth holding Coronavirus relief hostage for:
A BAN on information about low-cost health insurance. That’s right—House Democrats want to forbid the government from sharing any information with you about lower-cost health options such as association plans or short-term plans. Even as families try to cope with job and wage losses, Speaker Pelosi doesn’t want them to learn about options that are up to 60 percent cheaper than Obamacare.
Mass voting by mail. A “Coronavirus relief” bill might seem like the wrong time and place to dictate how states run their elections. Democrats disagree.
Stimulus checks for illegal aliens. Rather than protect American citizens by requiring a Social Security Number for taxpayer-funded stimulus, Pelosi’s bill would give illegal immigrants the ability to receive up to $1,200 in direct payouts.
Bailouts… for government. Democrats want more than $1 trillion in cash for state and local governments, mostly in the form of unrestricted aid that doesn’t need to be used to offset Coronavirus costs. They also threw in a $25 billion bailout for the Post Office.
The list goes on. At a moment when Americans most need Washington to look out for them and cut the partisan drama, Democrat leaders once again chose to put their far-left base first.
‘The Biggest Political Scandal of Our Time’
“For years now the media have done everything they can to push the Trump-Russia collusion hoax—even after a years-long special counsel investigation by Robert Mueller turned up nothing—using the complexity of the scheme to hide the greatest political scandal of our time in plain sight,” John Daniel Davidson writes in The Federalist. “If ever there was a threat to the rule of law, it was the Obama administration’s abuse of power and its weaponization of intelligence agencies in an attempt to take down Trump.”
